For two days, Sibiu’s Large Square will host potters from all around the country, thus returning to its primary function- the fair. Potters spread their merchandise and are ready to explain how they transform clay in beautiful pots, jugs and plates.
This year the fair will be held, just as every time- on the first Saturday and Sunday of September. It is one of the most prestigious events, which seeks the preservation and promotion of traditional folk art of pottery. Potters Fair in Sibiu is famous just because the idea of this kind is not recent, but 44 years old.

The Medieval Festival “Transylvanian Citadels” 26-29 August 2010

The ten anniversary of the Medieval Festival “Transylvanian Citadels” intends this year to celebrate the guilds from Sibiu. The festival will start sooner than before, namely Thursday, August 26, 9 pm, the Festival Parade will take place ..

The parade brings a new element, the starting point being the Evangelic Church yard. There will be approximately 300 participants at the festival, artists from home and abroad.

The starting location of the parade is not chosen by chance, but would thereby attracting an alarm to the problems of the Evangelic Church: roof strength issues, parts of plaster of structures the roof, problems whose solution involves significant financial resources from Sibiu Lutheran Parish.

In this respect, in all the four-day festival the participants will try to raise awareness of people in the community who may be involved to support the rehabilitation of this monument of great importance to Sibiu.

Jazz in Cafe Wien with Christel Ungar, August 20

For the last weekend of August Cafe Wien organizes a special jazz concert. The guests have a unique connection with Sibiu: Christel Ungar Ţopescu and Marius Popp, two of the most appreciated jazz musicians in Romania. The concert is scheduled for Friday, August 20, starting 9PM.

ARTmania Festival 2010 will take place from 13 to 15 August:

Friday, Square: “The Sisters of Mercy”, Kamelot, Swallow the Sun
Saturday, Square: Serj Tankian, Dark Tranquillity, Sirenia

This year Romania hosted the biggest rock concerts in history and ARTmania Sibiu shows six heavy names. Six national awards, edition number five, four bands, three days of festival, two important names in the world and one time: 13 to 15 August 2010 in the medieval city of Sibiu.

Friday, July 16 2010, starting 9 PM in Piata Mare you can enjoy the evening event “Carmen” by Georges Bizet. The show is choreographed by Valentin Barteş, directed by MC Ranin and conducted by Gabriel Bebeşelea.

Present on stage: Youth Orchestra of Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera Choir, Children’s Choir “aequo Anima” National College “Gheorghe Lazar” Sibiu, soloists of the Romanian Opera in Bucharest and Iasi and flamenco dancer Rosa Estrella of Spain.

The ticket price for the seats is 10 lei (full ticket), 5 lei (reduced ticket for pupils, students). Tickets can be purchased at Casa de Cultura and the State Philharmonic of Sibiu.
